The appearance put one of Hollywood’s most familiar couples beside a movie about newspapers, power and the people who decide what millions will read. The film debuted at the 83rd Venice Film Festival and is due in UK cinemas on January 8. The Sun reported that Amal wore a fitted black dress and stayed close to George, who chose a simple black-tie suit. The Daily Mail described his outfit as a Giorgio Armani tuxedo and hers as a ruched Tom Ford gown. He described the story as beginning with something fun and different that challenged an established order. The film comes from a stage play that Murdoch himself reportedly saw twice. That detail gives the premiere an unusual edge: the subject of the story has encountered its theatrical version, while the new screen version now arrives with Pearce wearing his face and voice as part of the performance.
