The film is set for July 9, 2027, so there is a date on the board and a roster to match it: David Corenswet is back as Superman, Nicholas Hoult is back as Lex Luthor, and the rest of the DC board is filling in around them. ## Gunn Wraps, and the Roster Hardens Variety said Gunn posted the wrap on Threads and thanked the cast and crew. AOL reported that the sequel appears to have moved faster than 2025’s Superman, with Gunn saying it took about 93 shooting days. David Corenswet returns as Clark Kent, and Nicholas Hoult returns as the man who keeps turning Lex Luthor into a very expensive problem for Superman. Variety reported that the story pushes them into an uneasy alliance against Brainiac, the super-intelligent villain played by Lars Eidinger. That setup asks more of the leads than a clean fistfight would. It asks them to sit inside a bargain between people who do not trust each other and have too much history to act casual about it. Milly Alcock is back as Kara Zor-El after headlining Supergirl, which gives that role a different weight now. She is no longer just a cameo or a passing nod. She has already carried a movie of her own, and now she comes back into Gunn’s larger world with that experience attached to her. Aaron Pierre is also set to join the film as John Stewart.
