# Mutiny's Box Office Drop Leaves Jason Statham With Another 2026 Flop

*The action thriller fell 64.3 percent in its second weekend and reached only $19.83 million worldwide against a reported $40 million budget. A Prime Video leak, piracy, and soft overseas play have kept the movie from recovering.*

Jason Statham's *Mutiny* is still sliding, and now the fall has a hard number on it. Yahoo reported on August 31 that the action thriller took in an estimated $2.75 million in its second weekend, down 64.3 percent from its opening frame, for a domestic total of $13.23 million and a worldwide total of $19.83 million. That matters because this is not just a weak hold; it is now Statham's second 2026 underperformer after *Shelter*, and *Mutiny*'s problem list is the kind that can sink a movie fast.

## A 64.3 Percent Fall in Weekend Two
According to Box Office Mojo, *Mutiny* landed ninth at the domestic box office in its second weekend, which ran from August 28 to 30. The film opened on August 21 in 2,703 theaters with $7.71 million, a start that already looked modest for a Statham-led action thriller. A second-weekend drop of this size tells you the movie did not build the kind of word of mouth that keeps a thriller moving once the first crowd is in.

Yahoo's report also points out the larger frame around that number. With a reported production budget of $40 million, *Mutiny* has not yet earned half of that worldwide. That is before marketing, before the usual theatrical costs, and before the film starts to look like anything close to safe. The box office is not just soft; it is trapped in the wrong gear.

## The Prime Video Leak Changed The Race
The leak did real damage. Cosmic Book News reported that Amazon accidentally streamed *Mutiny* on Prime Video for several hours before the mistake was caught and the film was removed. The copy that spread online was not a bad theater recording. It was a clean 4K version with finished sound, which made it far easier to pass around.

Cosmic Book News also said the film shot to No. 1 on TorrentFreak's weekly piracy chart for the week ending August 24, beating *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* and *The Odyssey*. That is a grim kind of attention, but it is attention all the same. Once a film is free in a polished form days before release, the theatrical run stops being the only place where viewers meet it.

The leak also changed the way the movie was discussed. Yahoo reported that the theatrical run was complicated by the accidental streaming release, followed by piracy, and that overseas performance took a hit as a result. Even before the opening-weekend dust had settled, the movie had a second, unauthorized life online.

## Overseas Never Bailed It Out
The international numbers did not come to the rescue. Yahoo said *Mutiny* had pulled in about $6.60 million from overseas markets so far, taking the worldwide total to $19.83 million. Cosmic Book News said the UK brought in only about $500,000 and that other territories were soft as well.

That matters because there was at least some hope that foreign play could soften the blow, the way it did for *The Expendables 3* when that film leaked early in 2014 and still ended up with roughly $215 million worldwide. Cosmic Book News said that kind of recovery is not happening here. The movie opened in most of the world, and the number still stayed low.

Yahoo also noted a split in how people responded to the film itself. On Rotten Tomatoes, *Mutiny* has a 49% critics score from 122 reviews and an 86% audience score. That is not the profile of a movie nobody wanted. It is the profile of a movie some viewers liked fine, while the business around it slipped away anyway.

## Jason Statham's 2026 Problem
This is where *Mutiny* stops being one title and starts becoming part of a pattern. Yahoo called it Statham's second box office underperformer of 2026 after *Shelter*, which opened on January 30 and went on to earn more than $54 million worldwide, including about $12.8 million domestically and $41.7 million internationally.

That does not mean the two films failed in the same way. *Shelter* found a bigger audience than *Mutiny* has, and Yahoo's report says it did well with critics and fans even if the budget kept the theatrical result from looking healthy. *Mutiny* has a different problem: a smaller domestic start, a steep drop in week two, a leak that pushed it onto piracy charts, and no overseas surge to make up the gap.

Cosmic Book News reported that buyers are waiting for Amazon to make things right, while Lionsgate talks with Amazon continue. The next hard number comes from Premium VOD in the coming weeks, and that will say a lot about how much paid life *Mutiny* still has left at home.
