# Oasis’ Reunion Film Hits UK Cinemas Before Disney+ Arrives Later This Year

*Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger opens in UK cinemas on September 9, with Disney+ streaming promised later in 2026. The Venice-premiering documentary sells reconciliation and crowd emotion, while leaving the Gallagher feud mostly off limits.*

Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger reaches UK cinemas on Wednesday, September 9, before moving to Disney+ later this year, Manchester Evening News reports. The film follows Liam and Noel Gallagher during Oasis Live ’25, their 41-show reunion tour across five continents. For film readers, the hook is clear: this is a concert documentary about one of rock’s most public sibling breakups, arriving while the brothers’ return still feels like a live question rather than settled history.

## UK cinema release comes first, but the Disney+ date stays vague

The theatrical run will be limited. Manchester Evening News says Vue and Odeon will screen the film across all 185 of their combined UK cinemas, with most Cineworld locations also taking it. Greater Manchester venues in Altrincham, Bolton, Salford Quays, Wigan, Stretford and Bury are among those listed. How long the run lasts has not been confirmed. The practical message is blunt: if you want a large screen, do not assume it will sit there for weeks.

Disney+ gets the film after that cinema window, but no exact streaming date has been announced. The Manchester Evening News gives only “later in the year” for the UK. BroadwayWorld reports an opening in select IMAX and cinemas on September 11, followed by international Disney+ streaming; in the United States, the film will appear on Hulu and Disney+. Noise11 gives September 10 for cinemas in Australia and New Zealand, followed by Disney+ later in 2026. Those dates describe different territories and releases, not one clean global timetable. The Disney+ window remains the part nobody has pinned to a calendar.

## Venice gets the first look at Liam and Noel together

Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern directed the film, with Steven Knight writing it. The world premiere took place September 5 at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. BroadwayWorld says more than 1,000 festival guests watched the screening in the Sala Grande and responded rapturously. Liam and Noel, Knight and the directors appeared on the red carpet.

The production promises rehearsal, backstage and onstage footage, plus the first joint Liam-and-Noel interviews in more than two decades. Noise11 says the film revisits the 2009 split and asks whether the reunion could fall apart again. Noel himself raises that possibility in the trailer. That is useful tension. A film about reconciliation needs the possibility of failure hanging over it; otherwise “healing” becomes a slogan printed on a laminate.

## The documentary sells forgiveness, not Gallagher dirt

The Hollywood Reporter’s Richard Lawson saw the film in Venice and found a warm, emotionally effective celebration of Oasis’ return. He also reports what the film does not deliver: no detailed excavation of the feud and no explanation of the mechanics that reunited the brothers after 15 years apart. The documentary keeps personal and political interrogation at arm’s length.

That decision matters. Oasis built its legend on friction, insults and the sense that any appearance together might end in a fresh detonation. Don’t Look Back in Anger chooses the opposite sales pitch. Liam and Noel appear more self-mocking and restrained than during their early celebrity years, Lawson writes, while still retaining Liam’s quick wit. Noel calling Liam “delightful” becomes the film’s tiny domestic miracle.

You can hear the committee in the premise: “a story of reconciliation,” “a broken world,” “generations, cultures and countries.” Knight’s description, quoted by Manchester Evening News, uses that language. The film wants Oasis to function as a public peace treaty, with guitars. It may be sincere. It is also excellent marketing for a Disney+ launch built around a band whose catalogue already does the heavy lifting.

## Why the crowd footage does the real work

Lawson says Lovelace and Southern stitch interviews, performances, audience reactions and fan stories into a fast-moving two-hour film. The structure leans hard on montage and can feel like an extended prelude to a story that never fully arrives. Yet the concert footage supplies the jolt the publicity copy cannot manufacture.

The camera stays close to fans crying and shouting as songs from 1995’s (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? return to the stage. The audience stretches from Gen Z to older Gen X, with people from the UK, Ireland, Brazil, South Korea and the United States. A young man remains alone in an arena after a concert, red-faced and tear-streaked; an older stranger hugs him. That is the film’s strongest argument for itself: people who do not know each other recognize the same feeling.

Oasis’ songs once drew mockery for their tidy, radio-ready Britpop sentiment. In this film, Lawson finds those anthems newly weathered, their “layered, plaintive, defiant” sound carrying the weight of time. “Champagne Supernova” closes the film, according to his account, rather than the title song. It sends the crowd — and the business plan — out on a chorus that Disney+ will soon stream into living rooms worldwide.
