# Spider-Man: Brand New Day Is Closing In on $900 Million Domestically

*Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man film has already left Avengers: Endgame behind at the North American box office and is now headed for a rarer mark: $900 million domestic. Forbes says the finish line should arrive by Friday, with Labor Day traffic as the last lift.*

Spider-Man: Brand New Day topped the domestic box office for a fourth straight weekend on Sunday, and Forbes says the Tom Holland, Zendaya and Sadie Sink film is now close enough to $900 million at home that the mark should fall by Friday, if not sooner during Labor Day weekend. For film readers, the point is not just the haul. It is the length of the run: 31 days in, the movie sits at $891.8 million domestically, and Forbes says only one other film in movie history has crossed $900 million at the domestic box office before inflation is counted.

## Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s record opening left a long runway
The domestic climb started with a monster opening. From July 31 to Aug. 2, Forbes reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned $360.1 million from 4,487 North American theaters, breaking Avengers: Endgame’s $357.1 million domestic opening record from 2019. Coupled with international ticket sales, the frame reached $932 million worldwide.

That pace did not last forever, but the base was so high that the film could keep piling up money after the first weekend ended. Forbes said that just 17 days into release, Brand New Day became only the eighth film in movie history to cross $2 billion worldwide. That is the kind of number that changes a film’s whole second act at the box office.

## Forbes’ latest tally puts $900 million within reach
On Monday, Forbes said Sony Pictures Entertainment projected $22.2 million from 3,678 North American venues for the weekend. The film finished a little ahead of that number, taking in $22.5 million domestically. That pushed its stateside total to $891.8 million.

That final number matters more than the weekend figure itself. It shows the film is not stalling out in a hard way; it is just moving into the slower, late-run phase that every blockbuster faces. Theaters are still bringing in money, but the big opening-week shocks are long gone.

Forbes’ language is careful here. The film is not being talked about as a surprise anymore. It is being measured against a historical threshold that very few titles ever reach. A movie can have a huge opening and still fall short of the kind of domestic total Brand New Day is now chasing. This one did the first part and is still on track for the second.

## Endgame is already out of the way
Koimoi reported on Aug. 24 that the film had finished its fourth Sunday with $12.2 million for the day, down 27.5% from Saturday’s $16.9 million. At that point, Koimoi put the domestic total at $854.9 million and said the movie needed $3.47 million to pass Avengers: Endgame’s $858.373 million domestic total.

Forbes’ Monday count makes the sequel clear. On $891.8 million, Brand New Day has already moved beyond Endgame at the North American box office and is now chasing a different line entirely. That is a better story for Sony and Marvel than a simple race to one title’s record. It means the film has already cleared one of the biggest domestic marks ever and is still adding to the pile.

Koimoi also pointed out that Star Wars: The Force Awakens remains the domestic leader at $936.66 million. So the next milestone is not the final one. It is just the next visible one.

## Labor Day weekend is the last push
The calendar helps explain the timing. Forbes said ticket sales should slow as schools and colleges begin fall classes. Even so, the film made $14.4 million from Monday through Thursday last week, or an average of $3.6 million a day. That gives the final stretch enough momentum to keep the $900 million mark in sight.

This is where the box office gets more interesting than the usual victory lap. Brand New Day is no longer running on opening-weekend heat. It is surviving on size, number of screens and just enough audience habit to keep moving money day after day. If weekday business softens, Labor Day weekend traffic should carry it over the line no later than Friday.
