Jung Sung-il
The dean of Korean cinephile criticism: editor-in-chief of the magazine KINO through the 1990s, where a generation of Korean directors and critics — Bong Joon-ho among the readers — learned to take their own cinema seriously. Jung writes criticism as devotion, sentence by long sentence, and later crossed the aisle to direct documentaries on Im Kwon-taek and Hou Hsiao-hsien.
