Synopsis
Quartet is a 2012 British comedy-drama film directed by Dustin Hoffman, in his directorial debut, and starring Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly, Pauline Collins and Michael Gambon as a group of retired opera singers at a home for musicians. Ronald Harwood wrote the screenplay, adapting his own play Quartet, which ran in London's West End from September 1999 until January 2000. The arrival of a former colleague at the retirement home complicates the residents' plans for an annual fundraising gala. The film was shot over nine weeks in 2011 at Hedsor House in Buckinghamshire.
