Synopsis
El Cantante is a 2006 American biographical drama film directed by Leon Ichaso and starring singers Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. The film is based on the life of the late salsa singer Héctor Lavoe, portrayed by Anthony. The film is told from the viewpoint of Puchi, Hector's wife, portrayed by Lopez. The film premiered at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival, and was released in the United States on August 3, 2007, by Picturehouse.
