‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ Puts Ajay Devgn Between Revenge and a New Cop

Abhishek Pathak Wrote the Film Backward From Its Ending

Pathak, who directs the Hindi film and co-wrote it with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh, says the work began with the climax. In comments reported by BollywoodShaadis, he explained that he first asked what would happen after one central idea, then built the story backward from there. He said a Drishyam story cannot be written in a straight line because the core plot has to be known before the flow can be built.

That method gives the final film a useful point of tension before anyone has seen it. We know the filmmakers are protecting a key turn, but we do not know what that turn is. Pathak’s comments are not proof that the ending works. They do explain why the trailer keeps showing pressure, warning and pursuit instead of giving away the answer.

The Hindi franchise began in 2015 with Drishyam, a remake of the Malayalam film starring Mohanlal. Drishyam 2 followed in 2022 and became a blockbuster, according to BollywoodShaadis. The new film is being presented by Star Studio18 and produced by Panorama Studios.

Pathak has acknowledged the burden created by that response. BollywoodShaadis quotes him saying viewers did not expect the turns in Drishyam 2, while expectations for this film are already high. He describes the new story as a rollercoaster that should leave audiences wondering how it reached its final point.

That is hope, not a guarantee.
