Haiwaan’s ₹11.5 Crore Weekend Leaves No Room for a Monday Slide

Overseas markets contributed about ₹75 lakh on Sunday and ₹2.75 crore across the weekend, according to Outlook. Koimoi’s daily worldwide calculation moved in the wrong direction: ₹4.54 crore on Friday, ₹3.95 crore on Saturday and ₹2.93 crore on Sunday. A film that begins at this level needs acceleration. Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan Could Not Fill the Reunion

Haiwaan brought Kumar and Khan back together after Tashan. Filmibeat described the gap as 18 years, while Business Today called it 17 years; Tashan was released in 2008. The reunion gave the film an easy promotional hook, but ticket sales did not turn nostalgia into urgency.

The cast extends beyond its two leads. Outlook identifies Khan as Shyam Rane, the visually impaired maintenance worker of a retired judge who is murdered, while Kumar plays Parshuram, a killer searching for the judge’s hidden daughter. Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Asrani and Rajpal Yadav also appear, according to Koimoi, with Mohanlal in a cameo.

Filmibeat reported that Haiwaan remakes Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, which also starred Mohanlal and was directed by Priyadarshan. That connection adds another recognizable name, yet the Hindi version’s first weekend remained startlingly small for the package assembled around it.

Monday Has Almost No Margin Left

Koimoi has already labelled the film a washout and projected a worldwide lifetime below ₹20 crore. That forecast remains an outlet’s assessment, not a settled result, but the opening numbers explain its severity. Business Today took a more conditional view, saying Haiwaan would need a sharp Monday pickup or stronger word of mouth to change course.

The immediate test is harsher than simply holding steady. Sunday was already the weakest of the first three days, domestic show count had fallen by nearly 40% from Friday, and two rival releases were drawing far larger crowds. Haiwaan enters the working week with ₹7.35 crore net in India and no weekend bounce to protect it.

Its most revealing number may be 4,374: the remaining Sunday shows in which a two-star Priyadarshan thriller managed only ₹1.85 crore.
