London Film Festival Adds PTA Concert Film and Javier Bardem Talk
Paul Thomas Anderson’s 71-minute Cameron Winter film joins a late programme expansion that also brings Javier Bardem and Robert Eggers to London for career talks.
The BFI London Film Festival added Paul Thomas Anderson’s Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall and Screen Talks with Javier Bardem and Robert Eggers to its 2026 programme on September 7. The concert film, shot during the Geese frontman’s sold-out December 2025 solo run, will receive its UK premiere when the festival begins on October 7. For filmgoers, this is more than a stray late addition: Anderson working with Benny Safdie across 35mm and 16mm is reason enough to pay attention, while Bardem arrives with two Gala films and decades of unusually fearless performances behind him.
Paul Thomas Anderson Brings Cameron Winter to the Prince Charles
Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall runs 71 minutes and will screen at the Prince Charles Cinema on October 7, followed by a BFI Southbank showing on October 8. It sits in the festival’s Create strand.
The BFI describes the film as an intimate record of Winter alone at the piano, with Anderson and Safdie using several formats and viewpoints to catch the performance and the audience around it. That choice feels central to the attraction. A concert film can flatten a room into coverage; the prospect here is cinema attentive to the exchange between a performer and the people listening.
Winter, best known as the frontman of Geese, was performing a stripped-down solo set at Carnegie Hall. Music Week reports that Ariel Rechtshaid recorded and produced the music for the film. Safdie operated a camera as well as co-producing with Sara Murphy, Erica Frauman and Maggie Ambrose.
The UK premiere follows the film’s world premiere at the 64th New York Film Festival. Music Week reports that a live album drawn from the December 2025 performance will be released on October 9 through Partisan and Play It Again Sam.

Mubi Takes the Film Beyond North America
Mubi has acquired rights to Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall outside North America and plans to release it on the service in 2027, according to Deadline. Janus Films and Criterion hold the North American rights.
The arrangement gives Anderson’s small-scale music film a substantial distribution path. Music Week identifies Mubi as the company presenting the film internationally, while The Playlist reports that Janus and Criterion plan a North American 35mm theatrical tour beginning November 20.
