Spider-Man: Brand New Day is on course to pass Titanic at the worldwide box office this weekend. The film has grossed $2.32 billion globally, and The Hollywood Reporter expects it to add between $22 million and $27 million in North America over the coming frame. If that estimate holds, Spider-Man 4 will become the fifth highest-grossing film in history. For moviegoers, the change is bigger than a chart shuffle: Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man has moved into the same commercial tier as James Cameron’s Avatar films and Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.

Spider-Man 4 Has Titanic in Reach

Brand New Day already has more domestic revenue than Cameron’s 1997 romantic tragedy. Its remaining target is Titanic’s worldwide total, listed at roughly $2.265 billion after decades of theatrical reissues, including the 3D restoration. The numbers in the reports vary slightly by update, but the direction is clear: Spider-Man 4 is closing the gap with a film that spent about 12 years as the global box-office record holder.

The latest Spider-Man movie has also been adding money at a steady clip. Yahoo’s report says it averaged almost $4 million per day at the domestic box office during the week leading into this weekend. That pace gives the film room to move past Titanic without needing another giant opening. It is the kind of late-run strength that turns a huge hit into a historical one.

The Current Worldwide Top Five

According to the ranking cited by Yahoo and Tempo English, five films sit above Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the time of reporting: Cameron’s Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, Ne Zha 2 and Titanic.

Avatar remains first with about $2.924 billion worldwide, including re-releases. Endgame follows at approximately $2.799 billion, while Avatar: The Way of Water has about $2.33 billion. Ne Zha 2 is listed at roughly $2.27 billion, just ahead of Titanic’s approximately $2.265 billion.

Brand New Day’s reported $2.32 billion total places it close to The Way of Water and above the Titanic figure cited in the reports. The exact order can change as grosses are updated, but the immediate milestone is straightforward: Spider-Man 4 is set to enter the top five and push Titanic down a position.

Sony’s Biggest Film Moves Past No Way Home

Tempo English reports that Brand New Day became Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing film ever after surpassing Spider-Man: No Way Home. The 2021 multiverse movie finished with about $1.92 billion worldwide and currently ranks ninth on Yahoo’s all-time list.

Brand New Day reached the $2 billion mark less than three weeks after its July 29 release, according to Tempo. The outlet also reports a $360 million opening weekend and nearly $1.24 billion from international markets, with China contributing about $210 million. Those figures explain why the film has climbed so quickly: it did not rely on a long, slow accumulation to reach the billion-dollar elite.

The domestic result is just as striking. Tempo lists an opening weekend above $360 million in North America and a third-weekend international addition of $118.7 million. Spider-Man 4 has turned a familiar character into the year’s most powerful box-office engine.

Cameron’s Hold on the Record Book Is Still Strong

Passing Titanic would not end Cameron’s dominance. Avatar remains number one, and Avatar: The Way of Water is still ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the reported worldwide ranking. Cameron has three films among the top five, even with Spider-Man 4 entering the group.

That makes the result more interesting than a simple Marvel-versus-Cameron story. Brand New Day is breaking into a club shaped by long theatrical runs, premium reissues and global event movies. Titanic’s endurance came from returning to theaters across generations. Spider-Man 4 is getting there on the force of a current franchise release, while Ne Zha 2 shows that the biggest audiences are no longer concentrated in Hollywood properties.

The Box Office Run Also Points Toward Marvel’s Next Move

Brand New Day is doing another job for Marvel Studios. The film continues Peter Parker’s story while introducing Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey, who is expected to appear in Marvel’s X-Men film in 2028. Marvel has not confirmed when or where Spider-Man will return in the MCU.

Fans expect an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday this year or Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, but those possibilities remain unconfirmed. For now, the confirmed event is happening on the chart: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is about to pass Titanic, and a 1997 film that once defined the ceiling of movie success is moving behind a new Spider-Man.
