Insidious: Out of the Further Is $34 Million From Beating the Original
The sixth Insidious film opened to $60.1 million worldwide, then moved to $66.5 million after six days, according to Scream Horror Magazine and Koimoi. That leaves Jacob Chase’s sequel within striking distance of the 2011 original and keeps the franchise’s box-office ladder moving.
Insidious: Out of the Further opened with a number that gives the franchise room to breathe. On August 30, Scream Horror Magazine said Jacob Chase’s sixth Insidious film had launched to $60.1 million worldwide. Two days earlier, Koimoi, citing Box Office Mojo, put the film at $66.5 million worldwide after six days. That matters because the 2011 original is at $99.6 million worldwide, leaving the new film about $34 million short of passing it and moving up a franchise ladder that has already pushed past $800 million, according to Yahoo Entertainment.
A $25.1 Million Domestic Start Behind Two Heavyweights
Scream said the movie opened to $25.1 million domestically and landed in third place behind The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That is a solid slot for a sixth franchise entry, especially when the previous film, 2023’s The Red Door, opened higher at $33 million and went on to become the series’ biggest earner so far. Scream’s read was plain enough: the new film did not top that domestic launch, but it still came in where industry estimates had it.
Overseas, Scream reported another $35 million, which is how the worldwide debut reached $60.1 million. For a horror series built on name recognition, recurring demons, and the promise of another trip into the Further, that is a start with momentum. It may not have the clean, unopposed run a studio would dream about, but it is enough to keep the title in the conversation while bigger holdovers take their cut.

Koimoi Put The Six-Day Total At $66.5 Million
Koimoi’s August 28 update, based on Box Office Mojo, pushed the story forward. The site said the film had earned $1.8 million on its first Wednesday, a 38.2 percent drop from Tuesday, and that the domestic total after six days had reached $31.9 million. With international business at $34.5 million, Koimoi put the worldwide gross at $66.5 million and said the film had already cleared break-even worldwide.
Koimoi also said the movie was on course to cross $100 million in its second weekend. That is a different kind of box-office story from a simple opening-weekend headline. It is about how quickly a franchise horror title can convert a decent start into a real run. The gap to the original film is now small enough to matter in shorthand. The 2011 Insidious sits at $99.6 million worldwide. Out of the Further is roughly $34 million behind it, which means the sixth film can overtake the first one without needing a miracle.
