Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman stepped out for the Practical Magic 2 European premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London on August 26, 2026, with Joey King, Maisie Williams, Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest and Xolo Maridueña also among the names photographed. Deadline reported the London event and published the red carpet gallery, while Yahoo and Hello described the sequel as a return to the world of the 1998 film. For film readers, that matters because this is the first big public look at how Warner Bros. is handing an old favorite back to its original stars, while asking a younger cast to join the spell without breaking it.

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman Return to Leicester Square

Deadline reported that Bullock and Kidman attended the European premiere together in London, with Getty photographers Hoda Davaine, Simon Ackerman, Eamonn M. McCormack and Jeff Spicer credited across the gallery. There is something tidy about that pairing arriving first in the public mind. Practical Magic was always sold, and remembered, around the charge between Sally and Gillian Owens: one sister holding herself steady, the other lighting matches near the curtains.

Yahoo reported that Bullock is reprising Sally Owens, with Kidman back as Gillian. Hello also noted Bullock’s return as Sally and Kidman’s as Gillian. That is the sort of casting news that looks simple on a call sheet and becomes more complicated under lights. These actors are not just returning to parts. They are returning to the audience’s memory of them in those parts, which can be a warm room and a hard room at the same time.

Just Jared reported that the new movie arrives nearly 30 years after the first. That is a long time for any screen family. Viewers age. Actors age. The camera, if it is kind, lets that be the point.

Joey King and Maisie Williams Join the Owens Family

The younger half of the premiere belonged, in the reporting, to King and Williams. Yahoo reported that King plays Kylie Owens, Sally’s elder daughter, while Williams plays Antonia Owens, Sally’s younger daughter. Hello carried the same character details. Just Jared also named King as Kylie and Williams as Antonia.

That is a useful piece of information, because it tells us the sequel is not only putting the old house back on screen. It is putting daughters in it. A family story changes when the children stop being a reason to protect the future and become the people asked to stand in it.

Yahoo described King’s premiere dress as a sheer beige look with white floral appliques, and Williams’ as a floor-length satin dress in two shades of red with a choker necklace. I will not pretend a gown explains a character. It does not. But premieres are little public arguments about tone. King and Williams are being introduced beside Bullock and Kidman, not off in a separate corner. The message is plain enough: the new actors are part of the family table.

Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest and the Weight of Familiar Faces

Deadline’s gallery also included Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest. Just Jared reported that Channing and Wiest return as Aunt Frances and Aunt Jet, nearly 30 years after the first movie. Yahoo described them as playing the aunts of Sally and Gillian, with Channing in a navy velvet suit and Wiest in a black pleated maxi dress.

The aunts matter. In a movie like Practical Magic, the older women are not furniture. They are the keepers of the room. They know where the trouble is buried, where the sugar is, and when a girl needs to hear the truth without a lecture attached.

Bringing Channing and Wiest back asks the sequel to respect age as part of the story, not as a wink. That is hope, not knowledge. No one outside the finished film can honestly say how the movie uses them. But the casting gives the film a chance to make time visible, and that is not a small thing.

The Red Carpet Also Made Room for New Names

Deadline’s photo gallery listed Ambar Driscoll, Nicole Burato, Ylenia Burato, Chloe Taylor and Stephanie Mendoza among the people photographed at the premiere. Xolo Maridueña was also shown in Deadline’s gallery, and Just Jared reported that he and Solly McLeod are new additions to the franchise.

Just Jared reported that Lee Pace, Maridueña and McLeod are among the cast, while Yahoo and Hello also named Pace, Maridueña and McLeod as starring in the film. Just Jared added that Cassie Bradley plays Hannah Owens.

Premieres can make a movie look like one large happy machine, but they are also work events. A sequel like this creates jobs for actors entering a house that other performers already made famous. The new cast has to do a tricky thing: belong quickly, without looking as if they have been pushed into somebody else’s family photo.

That is why the London carpet is not just a fashion stop. It is the first public seating chart.

September Brings a Small Date Puzzle

There is one practical wrinkle in the reporting. Deadline said Practical Magic 2 will be released in the U.S. in the post-Labor Day Friday slot on September 11. Yahoo, Hello and Just Jared reported a September 10 theatrical date. The piece does not know whether that reflects different markets, a one-day preview pattern, or a changed date across outlets.

What is clear is the timing: Warner Bros. is placing the sequel just after Labor Day, when summer’s noise has begun to thin and fall moviegoing starts to find its shape. That is a nice window for a film built around memory, sisters, daughters and a little household trouble.

I am hopeful because the public facts point to a sequel that understands the value of faces. Bullock and Kidman give it history. King and Williams give it the next step. Channing and Wiest give it roots. On a London carpet, before anyone can fairly judge the movie itself, Practical Magic 2 at least knew who needed to stand together.
